Unexpectedly lightweight, Zachary A. Design’s outdoor furniture is handmade in Chicago with a proprietary combination of real stone aggregate, cast resin, and fiberglass. Crafted with modern, geometric designs, each faux-concrete piece is low-maintenance, easy to clean, and suitable for indoor and outdoor use. A textured finish creates a perfectly aged look, while integrated drainage stands up to rain and water.

“The first layer of stone and resin gives every Zachary A. piece the stone look and feel,” says Zachary A. President and Founder Zac Bitner. “We add a second layer of fiberglass to reinforce the top layer through all four seasons. The fiberglass is what gives a piece its structural strength and its lightweight quality. Our special technique utilizing fiberglass and resin allows us to create large, durable outdoor furniture that’s hollow. This significantly reduces the weight and also gives us a lot more play when we design more complex shapes.”

The result is furniture that looks like classic concrete but is remarkably easy to pick up and move. “People see [our furniture] and think they can’t possibly move it. Then there’s this amazement that comes when they lift a piece so effortlessly,” Bitner says.
