eco-Teak Properties
eco-Teak is made from solid, high-density Polystyrene and is the finest, most natural-looking synthetic wood available. The Vintage finish uses a blend of colors to simulate natural wood grain and the material is colored throughout for fade resistance.
Cleaning eco-Teak
For normal cleaning, wash periodically with a soft, clean cloth using a mix of fresh water and mild dish soap. For deep cleaning, scrub with a soft bristle brush (non-metallic) using a mix of fresh water and mild dish soap. Always scrub in direction of the wood grain. A deep cleaning is recommended at the start or finish of each season.
How to Remove Oil Stains from eco-Teak
Immediately clean oil, grease, or lotion stains using a mix of fresh water and mild dish soap to help prevent long-lasting stains.
Caring for eco-Teak
To prolong the life of eco-Teak furniture, clean up spills promptly to help prevent long-lasting stains (e.g. oil, grease, lotion, food, drink. Use heat-resistant pads under hot items to prevent surface damage (e.g. pots, pans, dishes, etc.). Use coasters under glass items to prevent concentrated heat from refracted sunlight. Rest cold beverages on coasters to catch drips and prevent moisture rings. Avoid placing sharp objects directly on the furniture surface to help prevent scratches. Never use pressure washers or harsh chemicals to clean the furniture. Cover furniture in extreme weather with Kingsley Bate furniture covers (sold separately) to help prevent damage. Check bolts, screws, hinges, and other working parts periodically for any loosening or corrosion.
Repairing minor surface blemishes
eco-Teak wood is colored throughout, so it is possible to make minor surface repairs without harm to the finish. Minor scratches and nicks can be removed or diminished by lightly sanding the affected area using the plastic fiber scouring pad included with your furniture. Always sand in the direction of the eco-Teak wood grain. Sand by hand; do not use a mechanical sander. Once finished, rub the area with a piece of plain white paper or cardboard to lessen any sheen that may result from sanding. Never use sandpaper, steel wool, or any material that is not specifically recommended for sanding your eco-Teak furniture. If you need to replace the plastic fiber pad included with your furniture, we recommend a Scotch Brite General Purpose Pad, Maroon color.
Winter Storage
eco-Teak furniture should be stored indoors or beneath Kingsley Bate furniture covers. Always clean and dry furniture thoroughly prior to storage or covering.
